It is good to be back home in Ukraine to refresh myself and enjoy. It is been sometime since I wrote a blog about traveling the backroads of Ukraine.
Arrived back on April 10, 2013 after a long flight from Denver, Colorado with my wife. The topic on people’s minds was the weather. Kyiv had just finished thawing out from its long cold snowy global warming winter and everything looked bleak and dirty coming in from the airport.
That was then. Now the skies are sunny and weather is just fine. The grass is green. Trees have leaves. Fruit trees are in bloom. Tulips abound. Life springs eternal. It is Easter time in the Orthodox world and Ukraine, the land of Pysanky eggs are everywhere! The mood is festive. My wife and I with cameras in hand traveled to see the 2nd Annual Festival of Easter Egg Heaven in a park outside of Ivan Franko Ukrainian Drama Theater.
Eggs from regular students and art students from 40 cities in all the regions around Ukraine participated. It took 3 months to paint all the eggs. 3 million eggs were juried. 58,000 were selected to decorate the park along with 10,000 roses.
Hope you enjoy the photos of Easter Egg Heaven at Facebook.com/yolkstar!
